A bit about us
Matt Birch
Starting as an on-the-tools ‘fridgie’ and later transitioning into sales, I’ve always had a deep passion for the trade and the people within it.
This passion grew further in the training field, particularly during my time as a Senior Lecturer in Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning, and Electrical at MIT. Later, as the Area Training Manager at Black Diamond Technologies (Mitsubishi Electric), I had the privilege of helping develop and guide the next generation of professionals.
Becoming a WorkSafe Compliance Certifier rounded out my expertise, and I continue to upskill regularly to stay at the forefront of the industry.
Launching TrainingWorks has given me the platform and motivation to become your go-to trainer. My goal is to set you up for success in your HVAC+R career.
Janis Birch
With over 30 years of experience in CAD drafting, I have developed expertise in various software types, creating precise designs with a strong foundation in building and construction as a Licensed Building Practitioner – Design. My early qualifications in organic chemistry have shaped my analytical approach to problem-solving.
Along with designing the CAD courses for HVAC+R, I oversee the online course coordination and certification processes to ensure smooth operations. I am dedicated to supporting Matt and ensuring excellent communication with our clients.

What do you need?
For all courses we require you to turn up with your PPE (hard toe boots, safety glasses, cotton overalls/clothing and gloves).
For some courses we recommend you bring your own familiar tools or equipment to use in the practical session.
Our specialised courses will often require a level of skill or prior learning. This is outlined in the course information.
